Position Summary

The Assistant Tennis Professional (Part-Time Seasonal) supports the day-to-day delivery and operation of the Club’s seasonal Tennis Program. Working closely with the Head Tennis Professional, this role assists with clinics, member instruction, weekend operations, pro shop support, and general tennis programming.

This position plays an important role in creating a professional, welcoming, and service-focused tennis environment for members of all ages and playing levels. The role is designed to provide hands-on support in both instructional and operational areas of the tennis department, with a particular emphasis on adult clinics, Friday programming, weekend coverage, and member-facing service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operational and administrative functions of the Club’s Tennis Program
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of tennis programming for adult and junior members, including clinics, leagues, round robins, social events, and instructional programming
  • Support the delivery of adult clinics and Friday tennis programming, including teen programming as required
  • Provide private and group tennis instruction to members across varying ages and skill levels
  • Assist with weekend tennis operations and provide visible, member-facing support during peak activity periods
  • Support the daily operation of the pro shop, including member assistance, front-line service, and general organization
  • Build strong member relationships through a professional, personable, and approachable presence
  • Foster a welcoming environment for men, women, junior players, experienced players, and social players alike
  • Assist with light court-related duties as required, including basic court set-up, court sweeping, ball machine support, and other operational tasks
  • Provide occasional support for tennis events, mixers, and tournaments as needed
  • Support the delivery of Women’s Intercounty Team practices on Monday mornings by assisting with drills, player development, and overall practice execution.
  • Help facilitate larger group practices of 8 to 12 participants to ensure an effective, well-run, and engaging training environment.
  • Maintain accurate lesson, clinic, and program records for billing and payroll purposes
  • Collaborate with the Head Tennis Professional and the broader tennis team to ensure a well-organized, responsive, and service-driven operation
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through reliability, flexibility, professionalism, and teamwork

Skills & Requirements

  • Postsecondary education in a related field considered an asset
  • Previous tennis coaching, instruction, or tennis program support experience required
  • Instructor-level certification, Coaching Level 1, or equivalent coaching experience preferred
  • Experience working with both junior and adult players required
  • Experience in a private club, tennis club, or comparable member-service environment considered an asset
  • Membership with the Ontario Tennis Association and good standing considered an asset
  • Knowledge of tennis rules, scoring, and general club-based tennis operations required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent member service
  • Professional, personable, and approachable manner
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of members, including adults, juniors, older members, and stronger players
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and responsive to changing operational needs
  • High degree of reliability, integrity, and professionalism
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive tennis experience for members and guests
  • This is a part-time seasonal position, averaging approximately 20-25 hours per week
  • Schedule is expected to fall primarily between Thursday and Sunday
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs

Compensation

$23.00/hr to $25.00/hr + Clinics/Lesson Revenue
