What You'll Do;

As a Payroll Assistant with Sporting Life Group, you will support our payroll function in processing payroll transactions, responding to employee inquiries, and assisting with payroll and Dayforce HCM administration for all 3 of our banners across our store support centre and store locations.

In this newly created role, you will support our Payroll Specialists in accurate, timely payroll processing while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with payroll legislation, company policies, and applicable regulations.

  • Assist with inputting and maintaining employee payroll and benefits records in Dayforce HCM, including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence and pay changes
  • Assist with processing biweekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and timely payment
  • Process various types of payments, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses and statutory holiday pay and pay adjustments
  • Assist with completing termination process and preparing Record of Employment (ROEs) and other statutory documentation
  • Assist with benefit enrolment and eligibility, data entry and tracking
  • Work with the Payroll team to respond to employee payroll and benefit inquiries and assist Employee Services with payroll and Dayforce HCM knowledge
  • Support the Payroll team in internal and external audits by providing payroll reports and documentation
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to support payroll processes

What You'll Bring;

  • PCP certification or current enrollment required
  • Must have payroll processing experience in Dayforce HCM, processing payroll in the retail industry is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or payroll is an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy using MS Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining confidentiality and exercising extreme discretion
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
  • You live for the great Canadian Outdoors
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work model, 4 days a week in the office
