Golf Canada is the National Sports Federation and governing body for golf in Canada representing over 340,000 golfers at close to 1,500 member clubs across the country. Our mission is “bettering lives of

Canada. High performance athlete development through Team Canada’s program, Canada’s professional

championships including the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open and the LPGA Tour’s CPKC Women’s Open, over 34 National Amateur Championships, First Tee Canada, the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum; and a robust diversity, inclusion, equity, and safe sport strategy, are only some of the initiatives the association delivers in conjunction with the provincial and other national golf associations. As the

authority for golf in Canada, the association also administers the Rules of Golf, amateur status, handicapping and course rating.

In July 2022, Golf Canada and Osprey Valley Resorts announced a major partnership and bold vision to

build a new Home for Canadian Golf - a momentous project that will see the National Sport Federation

relocate its corporate base of operations to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon, Ont. In addition to

Golf Canada’s national headquarters, the head offices of Golf Ontario and Club Management Association

of Canada, and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum, the vision for the Canadian golf campus on

the grounds of TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley will feature the national headquarters for First Tee - Canada which will include a publicly accessible community putting course.

  • *THE POSITION**:

The Tournament Director, CPKC Women’s Open, is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations and revenue of the event, as well as the growth and development of the event on an annual basis. Responsibilities include overseeing public relations, advertising and promotions, sales and marketing, operations, volunteer activities, tournament financials and management of the CPKC Women’s Open tournament staff.

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is a member of Golf Canada’s Senior Leadership Team.

  • *PRIMARY DUTIES**:
  • Required to build, manage, and maintain exceptional relations with CPKC and the LPGA Tour;
  • Responsible for building a strong relationship with agency partners specifically tied to CPKC;
  • Develop meaningful relationships with secondary sponsors, host club/venue, players, local media, corporate community, hospitality industry, government/civic entities and other community-based steering committees and golf-related organizations;
  • Responsible for the overall management of the event’s statement of account including both profit and loss;
  • Develop a comprehensive business plan and budget for the event which meets the goals of CPKC, LPGA Tour and Golf Canada;
  • Develop, in conjunction with key internal staff, a written strategic plan for the tournament that aligns with Golf Canada’s Strategic Plan and be confident in presenting the plan to stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership, CPKC, and the LPGA Tour
  • Develop the Player Relations plan including player recruitment, hosting and other initiates;
  • Interface with community leaders to foster the overall impression and perception of the event in the community;
  • Develop a comprehensive volunteer structure, including a prominent chairperson(s) to champion the tournament. Regular interaction is required;
  • Develop a committee structure for planning, preparing for and executing the tournament with appropriate volunteer committee chairs, vice chairs and other committee members;
  • Develop, in conjunction with the Chief Marketing Officer, an annual marketing plan to include advertising, promotions, and public relations to build tournament awareness and promote local ticket sales;
  • Develop sales targets, working with the sales and partnerships teams and LPGA Tour;
