Golf Course Mechanic

Position: Equipment Technician

Facility: Golden Eagle Golf Club located in Pitt Meadows, BC.

Job Description and Requirements

· This is a full-time/year-round position

· Reports to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents

· Oversee and maintain all pieces of golf course equipment

· Ability to solve problems and diagnose mechanical issues in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to meet specific deadlines

· Ability to work early in the morning and occasionally on weekends

· Ability to lift 50 pounds

· Both inside and on-course work

Primary Responsibilities

· Repair and maintain all pieces of golf course equipment including utility vehicles, reel and rotary mowers, tractors, greens rollers and smaller pieces of equipment such as backpack blowers, trimmers and chain saws

· Service equipment on a regular basis

· Inspect equipment daily for proper operation and performance

· Record keeping including servicing requirements, parts inventory, purchases and repairs performed for each piece of equipment

· Adjust mowing heights throughout the year

· Grinding both reel and rotary blades throughout the year

· Train staff on safe operation of equipment, pre-operation checks and cleaning procedures

· On-course maintenance from time to time

Qualifications

· Knowledge and experience with gasoline and diesel engines used in our larger fairway mowers, rough mowers and tractors

· Knowledge and experience of smaller 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines used in handheld equipment, mowers and utility vehicles

· Experience diagnosing and maintaining hydraulic systems

· Experience troubleshooting electrical systems

· Valid driver’s license

· Certificate or diploma in small engine repair or heavy-duty mechanics is an asset

Compensation & Benefits

· $34.00 - $37.00/hour based on relevant experience
