Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the meticulous maintenance and development of their prestigious golf course in Toronto. This pivotal role requires a leader passionate about agronomy, turf management, and environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for ensuring the course is maintained to the highest standards, providing an exceptional playing experience for members and guests throughout the season. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to course conditioning, staff management, and budget control, contributing significantly to the club's reputation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass health, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control across all course areas. Manage, train, and mentor a team of groundskeepers and equipment operators, ensuring high performance and adherence to safety protocols. Oversee the annual budgeting process for the golf course maintenance department, managing expenses effectively and seeking cost-saving opportunities.
Coordinate closely with the Head Golf Professional and Club Management on course setup, tournament preparations, and special events. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and implement sustainable course management practices. Operate and maintain a fleet of specialized golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
Requirements Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent role. Advanced knowledge of turfgrass science, soil chemistry, irrigation systems, and integrated pest management techniques. Possession of a valid GCSAA Class A certification or equivalent is highly preferred.
Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and make sound financial decisions. Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse crew. Valid driver's license and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
