Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Director of Golf Course Maintenance to oversee the agronomic and operational aspects of their prestigious golf course in Richmond. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of course conditioning, turf health, and environmental stewardship. You will lead a skilled team of groundskeepers and technicians, managing budgets, implementing cutting-edge maintenance practices, and collaborating with other departments to deliver an unparalleled golfing experience. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic plans to ensure optimal turfgrass health and playing conditions year-round. Manage the daily operations of the maintenance department, including staff supervision, scheduling, and training. Oversee budget development and management for the maintenance department, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
Implement and maintain rigorous safety protocols and environmental stewardship practices. Operate and maintain all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working order. Collaborate with the Director of Golf and General Manager on course improvement projects and strategic planning.
Requirements Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance management. Advanced degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related field. Proven leadership ability with experience managing large teams and complex budgets.
In-depth knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, pest and disease management. Strong understanding of environmental regulations and best practices in golf course maintenance. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
