Position Summary
The seasonal Tennis Court Maintenance & Grounds Team Member position is responsible for ensuring the Club’s tennis courts are maintained to the highest standard of quality and cleanliness by assisting with a number of grounds and maintenance tasks on and around the tennis courts and on the golf course as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain clay courts to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality playing conditions.
- Drag, brush, sweep, and level court surfaces on a regular schedule.
- Water courts appropriately to maintain proper moisture levels and prevent surface deterioration.
- Patch low spots, worn areas, and court lines as needed.
- Install, clean, and maintain court lines, nets, center straps, and related tennis equipment.
- Monitor surface condition daily and address issues such as uneven areas, buildup, soft spots, or drainage concerns.
- Perform opening and maintenance for the courts each day.
- Keep surrounding areas clean and presentable, including walkways, fencing, benches, scorekeepers, and court accessories.
- Assist with landscaping & garden details as directed by the Assistant Superintendents
- Inspect courts and equipment for safety hazards and report repair needs promptly.
- Assist with seasonal court setup, opening, and winterization/closing procedures.
- Support court readiness for member play, lessons, clinics, tournaments, and special events.
- Coordinate with the Tennis Professional team and Club management regarding court usage, maintenance timing, and operational needs.
- Maintain maintenance logs and report supply or material needs.
- Operate maintenance tools and equipment safely and in accordance with Club procedures.
- Contribute to an exceptional member experience by ensuring courts are consistently well-presented and playable.
- Follow all Health & Safety policies and Clubhouse procedures & standards
- Perform other duties as required
Skills & Requirements
- Tennis clay court maintenance experience, in a comparable environment an asset
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools
- Experience performing basic building maintenance and repairs is an asset
- Pleasant, respectful and professional when communicating with others
- Must be Service oriented – courteous and friendly
- Must have commitment to teamwork and cooperation
- Must work in a safe manner
- Must have strong work ethic – hard working, reliable, positive attitude
- Ability to work in an efficient manner while managing multiple tasks and priorities
- Ability to work Day shifts and/or afternoon shifts
- Working hours of this position coincide with our golf season (approximately April to mid-November)
- Flexible hours may be required on occasion with notice from the management team
- Some overtime may be required during peak times / as per business demands
