As a Greenskeeper, you will perform a variety of duties related to golf course operations. Primary duties include:

  • Evaluate golf course conditions and maintenance needs.
  • Perform turf maintenance such as mowing greens, fertilizing, irrigating, performing integrated pest management programs, evaluating plant growth and health, maintenance and repairs of irrigation systems.
  • Assist in the implementation and planning of programs for golf course turf, pesticide application, horticulture, grounds maintenance, and staff and customer safety programs.
  • Support the Golf Course Superintendents and Assistants in their day to day operation of golf courses.
  • *Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A completed 2 year diploma in Turf Management with at least 1 year of related experience is required.
  • Must possess an Alberta Pesticide Applicators License.
  • You possess or have the ability to obtain a Standard First Aid Certificate.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits or a Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
  • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills; understanding of golf course operating practices; ability to deal effectively with a variety of customers.
  • *Working Conditions:These positions require physically demanding work in all types of working and weather conditions.
  • *Pre-employment Requirements
  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
  • Applicants may be interviewed and hired throughout the duration of this competition.
  • *Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation: $36.85 - 40.81 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 4 or 5 day shift to include 1 weekend day with pay premiums.

Shifts are 7.5 to 9.5 hours in length.

Hours of work: Non-standard 38 hour work week
